ANSTRUTHER & CELLARDYKE
BEAUTIFUL FIFE GROUP
loral boat in anstruther

A Beautiful Fife Group has been set up for the town to try and improve on last year’s Bronze Award. Ongoing work by the group comprises:
• acquisition of additional boats for year-round planting,
• expansion of number of hanging baskets,
• acquisition of tubs and planters for year-round planting,
• promotion of various environmental improvements,
• liaison with the community to widen and encourage participation.
------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last year the town achieved a Bronze Award in the Beautiful Fife competition. This was mainly due to members of the Community Council who planted up the boat outside the RNLI station, and obtaining funding for about 60 hanging baskets.
This year the above Beautiful Fife Group has been formed by the Community Council with help and input from the local community including Cellardyke Residents Association, both schools, the churches, Anstruther Allotments Association, Bankie Park Development Group, Anstruther Improvements Association and others. Our aim is to better last years score by scoring better in the 3 main areas to be judged viz.
1. Horticultural Achievementthe boat at anstruther harbour
2. Environmental Responsibility,
3. Community Participation.
We are now actively seeking help from local businesses to improve the horticultural environment by:
• purchasing more hanging baskets,
• requesting businesses to provide floral hanging baskets, tubs and planters outside their premises,
• purchasing floral tubs and planters.
Practical help is also required to:
• paint and landscape boats,
• acquire and plant up tubs and 3 –tier planters,
• liaise with the various elements of the community.
