Community Councils were established as a result of the local government ( Scotland ) act 1973. They do not have statutory duties or powers and are essentially voluntary bodies established within a statutory framework.
Their Key roles are : to represent the views of the community to Fife Council and other statutory bodies. To act to further the interest of their community. To be consulted on planning applications within their area ( the town and country planning ( general development procedure) ( Scotland ) amendment order 1996. To consider exercising their powers to object to the granting renewal or transfer of liquor licenses ( the licensing( Scotland ) act 1976).
The Royal Burgh of Kilrenny Anstruther and Cellardyke Community Council is made up of up to 15 Locally elected members.
The Community Council meets on the second Monday of the month in the burgh chambers Anstruther Town Hall at 7.30pm. All meetings are held in public, but are not public meetings.
All Members of the public are most welcome to attend but anyone wishing to raise a particular subject should contact the secretary 7 days prior to the meeting. This will ensure that they will get on the agenda and be given appropriate time to discuss their issue.
